Ruth Suzanne "SueGÇ¥ Shawger, peacefully passed in her sleep on April 30, 2016 at the age of 80. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in her early 70s and has now moved on to join our Lord in Heaven where she will be reunited with her beloved husband of 37 years, Jack Shawger, and son Ron Shawger. Sue was born March 10, 1936 in Seattle to Ted and Buelah Fisk. Sue grew up in Seattle and graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Music where she was a member of the UW marching band. She later achieved her postgraduate MA degree from the UW after the kids were grown. She and Jack raised their family in Everett and later retired in Sultan. Sue was a loving wife and mother, neighbor and friend, as well as an accomplished musician and educator. Sue played trumpet in the Seattle Symphony in her early years as a musician. She played the cello in the Everett Symphony during the years that Jack Shawger was the Conductor of the Symphony. Sue also enjoyed playing in various bands and EvCC theatre/playhouse orchestras and choirs at the Everett Community College music programs with Jack. Sue retired as a grade school music specialist with the Snohomish School District. Sue will be remembered for her kind and gentle ways, her love of music, reading, gardening and traveling the world. Sue went to Iceland, Jamaica, Italy, Norway, and Sweden, just to mention a few. Sue was an active member of the Friends of the Sultan Library and the Winters Lake Ladies Club. Sue is survived by her children: Son Tim Shawger, wife Joyce, grandchildren Shyanne, Krystle, Jordyn, and great grandson Alex. Son Ron Shawger (deceased), wife Laurie, grandchildren Brian, John. Son John Shawger Jr, partner Fakih Corry. Daughter Beth Ellsworth, husband Guido, grandchildren Mateo, Siena. Best friends Jean Roberts of Sultan and Barbara Harris of Seattle. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 2pm, First Presbyterian Church, 2936 Rockefeller Avenue, Everett, 98201 with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Everett Community College Music Department.
