Sample offerings from Sultan SD future chefs

The Sultan School District will have their first annual Future Chefs' Competition on April 26 at Sultan High School, 13715 310th S.E.
Students from the 4th and 5th grades submitted recipes in order to enter the contest. Six finalists were chosen from Sultan and Gold Bar Elementary Schools.
Each finalist will prepare their culinary creation for a panel of judges.-á Judging begins at 4:30 p.m. on April 26, Parents, staff and the public may sample the creations. Judges will announce the top four winners at 5 p.m.
All winners will-áreceive a chef's coat, chef's hat, cookbook, medal and goodie bag. Winners will be recognized by the Sultan School District Board of Directors at the May 20 board meeting.
Future Chef Finalists:
Gold Bar Elementary:
Fifth grade - Valentine Rowley, glazed pumpkin donuts; Brayden Chaplik, blueberry bran muffins; Kassandra Burton, potato mice; Jamie Atkinson, peanut butter kisses.
Fourth grade GÇô Carley McCartney, cranberry nut cinnamon Chex Mix; Carmen Valencia-Correa; carrot ceviche.
Sultan Elementary:
Fifth grade GÇô Lydia Sorgen, pepperollies; Haley Moody, Hawaiian meatballs; Ginger VanValkenburg, golden honey banana sandwich.
Fourth grade GÇô Joesiah Day; peanut butter energy bites; Jacob Burts, cheese crackers; Kristin Larson, butterfly fairy masks.
