"Santa RunGÇ¥ to collect for Sky Valley Food Bank


The Monroe Fire Department will spend two evenings escorting Santa Claus through several neighborhoods in Monroe, spreading holiday cheer and collecting food for their holiday food drive!
The "Santa RunGÇ¥ food drive, which will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 17, and Thursday, Dec. 18, will include firefighters and their families riding along with Santa Claus on a decorated fire engine. All food donations collected will benefit the Sky Valley Food Bank in Monroe.
Candy canes will be given out to all those who come to greet Santa and donate a non-perishable food item or two!
On Wednesday, Dec. 17, the Santa Run will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Farm, which is located off Woods Creek Road. From 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. they will visit Remington Heights, The Summit at Sky Valley and Maxwell's Old Owen Place.
On Thursday, Dec. 18, firefighters will visit several neighborhoods in the Fryelands area. From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. they will be in Lords Lake, Lake View, 167th Avenue and Wales Avenue. From 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. they will visit the Foothills neighborhood which is located west of the Evergreen State Fairgrounds and on the north side of U.S. 2.
The festive holiday food drive, which will incorporate the fun of Santa Claus along with the spirit of giving, will help feed local families in need who utilize the Sky Valley Food Bank on a weekly basis.
Snohomish County Fire District #3 serves residents of east Snohomish County including the city of Monroe. District #3 is 55 square miles, with an estimated population of 29,000 residents. Monroe Fire District #3 utilizes a team of full-time paid firefighters, volunteers, office personnel and shop employees. Monroe Fire Department firefighters are paramedics, EMTs, swift water rescue technicians, rescue swimmers, hazmat team technicians and more.
The department, which handles over 3,200 calls per year, also contracts with Snohomish County Fire District #5, which is located in Sultan, to provide them with paramedic services.
