Sultan boys lose first district game

Turk high flyer #11, senior Giovonni Williams, crashes through the stifling Sehome defense in the Turks loss 85 - 65 in the 2A District playoff matchup against Sehome on Saturday night in Sultan.
Williams scored 26 points, above his PPG of 21.5, despite being double-teamed most of the evening. The Turks were on their game in the first period, but the game was lost in the second quarter when numerous forced and unforced turnovers by the Turks, take-a-ways by Sehome and direct-connect three-point scoring let the Mariners rumble to a 20-point lead that they maintained for the rest of the contest.
Mariner-áLeif Anderson hit eight three-pointers and finished with 30 points. The Turks Senior -áhit for 14 and classmate Cooper Beucherie dropped in 10 to lead the Turks. Sultan will again have the home court advantage hosting Sedro Woolley in a loser-out game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
