Sultan defeats South Whidbey


Sultan Turk power forward #25, senior Brock VandenEkart, crashes through for two of his team-high 18 points in the Turks' win, 67-50, over South Whidbey on Wednesday at home.
The physical, aerobatic Turks unloosed a smothering defense in the first period. The Falcons recovered, tying the score at the half. The Turk D surged in the second half, leading to an early 10-point lead, and the Falcons got into foul trouble, committing a "flagrant foul" which allowed Turk #5, Steven Branham, three solid baskets at the foul line late in the game. Minutes later Branham reappeared at the line for two more unanswered shots.-áThe Turks shared the scoring, with-áSteven Branham, 14, Brock VandenEkart, 18, Corbin McQuarrie, 12 and Cooper Beucherie, 14. -áThe Falcons were led by-áNick French with the game-high 22.
