Sultan man facing charges following scuffle with sheriff's deputy

Sultan resident Donald Lee Alcorn Jr., 43, was charged Tuesday with one count of making false or misleading statements to a public servant and one count of harassment in Snohomish County District Court for allegedly lying to a sheriff's deputy and then fighting and threatening the officer once under arrest.

Alcorn was arrested at around 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, by Snohomish County Sheriff's Deputy George Burnett, who was searching for the Sultan man because he'd allegedly failed to check in with his probation officer, causing a felony warrant to be issued.

Alcorn is a Level 3 sex offender with a history of violence and ties to white supremacy gangs, and he was recently released from the Snohomish County Jail. He is now back there, and his bail is set at $250,000.

In the course of his search, Burnette spoke with Sultan residents who informed him that Alcorn had just left the Marcus Street trailer park and was walking west toward the Red Apple grocery store. Burnette located Alcorn based on his physical appearance, which includes a distinctive swastika tattoo.

Alcorn allegedly told the sheriff's deputy his name was James Ireland, according to police documents, but Burnette further identified the Sultan man as the suspect by superficial cuts on his legs that were reported by an anonymous source.

Burnette placed Alcorn in handcuffs and began to search him, locating a glass pipe that fell from the waistband of his shorts, according to police documents.

When Burnette attempted to adjust and double-lock Alcorn's handcuffs, the Sultan man allegedly grabbed Burnette's hand in an assaultive manner.

The deputy was able to pull his hand out of Alcorn's grasp and use his Taser to deliver a "drive stunGÇ¥ ' not using projectiles ' to Alcorn's back, according to police documents. Alcorn allegedly continued to resist arrest, causing Burnette to deliver another drive stun to the back of the Sultan's right knee.

Burnette and the assisting deputies were unable to double-lock Alcorn's handcuffs due to his continued efforts to resist arrest, and he was eventually placed in the back seat of the patrol car, according to police documents.-á

Alcorn was reportedly "verbally belligerentGÇ¥ during the jail transport, threatening Burnette with bodily harm.

"Whenever I get outGǪ I don't care how long it takes. I will find you. I will hunt you down,Gǥ Alcorn said, according to police documents.

Alcorn was booked into jail for resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, making a false or misleading statement to a public servant and harassment. The Snohomish County Prosecutor's Office has until Aug. 28 to file charges in Snohomish County Superior Court.
