Sultan SD Future Chef Competition grows in second year

On March 21 Sultan School District hosted the Second Annual Future Chef Competition at Sultan High School.
The theme this year was sandwiches.-áFourth and 5th graders submitted recipes to enter the contest. Students submitted 51 recipes, about 30 more than last year.


 
Twelve finalists were chosen from Sultan and Gold Bar Elementary Schools, and each finalist prepared their culinary creation for a panel of judges. Parents, judges and the public sampled the creations.
All finalists received a chef's coat, chef's hat, cookbook, medal and goodie bag. Winners received a Panini grill and will be recognized by the Sultan Board of Directors at the May 19 board meeting.
Winners were: Jordyn Mcnew, Health Conscious - The New Peanut Butter and Jelly; Nicole Pillatos, Kid Friendliest - Waffle Delight; Kayla MacFarlane, Fun Sandwich - Banana Savannah Sandwich; Carmen Valencia-Correa, Best Verbal Presentation - Miniature Wrap-ups and Hope Huffman, Judge's Choice - French Dipbites.
