Triathlon brings top athletes to Monroe

Tomlin leads pack in TriMonroe

The race begins for the under-25 EDR females class in the annual TriMonroe Triathlon on Saturday, June 21 at Lake Tye.

Renee Tomlin, No. 411, center, was the class winner with a combined swim, bike and run time of 102:58.70. Tomlin, 26, of Ocean City, New Jersey, was the first competitor out of the lake, made a fast transition to her bike, led the the bike race and finished the run leg in first place.

The USA Triathlon-sanctioned event featured a 750-meter swim, a 20.5-kilometer (5 lap) drafting legal bike sprint and a 5K (2 lap) dash.

Transition-area requires quick change

Renee Tomlin, No. 411,-ásprints towards the bike starting line, helmet on and bike shoes already clipped in her pedals, for her pack-leading ride, followed by a run that brought her across the finish line ahead of her age group.
