The kids will be all bite when the Sky Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited releases $6,000 worth of fish for its annual free fishing day at Lake Tye on Sunday, April 29.
Children 12 and under fish free 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lake Tye, on the Fryelands Boulevard side, and will have the opportunity to win lots of prizes.
Kids can bring their own gear or use what’s provided by Trout Unlimited.
An adult fishing derby will follow from 2-5 p.m., with a $250 cash prize for the larges fish caught and a $500 prize for anyone who catches a special tagged fish. Entry is $10.
The kids fishing derby is being support by small businesses and the City of Monroe.
