The time of year has come when the seniors are busy with scholarships, college applications and all sorts of planning for the future.
Here are a few of Sultan High students' plans for continuing education:
"I'm going to Grace Bible College in Michigan because they called me about playing soccer there. Two other colleges contacted me, but I chose this one because it's a small school and it feels like home. I got 3/4 of my college paid for.GÇ¥ Mario Nambo.
"I'm going to start out at EVCC for two years, then go to Western for four years for Physical Therapy. I've been to a lot of physical therapy myself, and also my grandma, and it's changed our lives. It's a fun thing to do, and I can change everyone's lives for the better by doing it. Mrs. Varnell's sports medicine class is amazing, and I love that class. I almost wish that I wasn't a senior so that I could go to the second course of it next year.GÇ¥ James Buckley.
"I'm going to be an ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter. When I was in ASL my first year, Mrs. Knox talked about how much money you get from being an ASL interpreter, they get $50 an hour. I love ASL, and I love money.GÇ¥ Jacob Boyer.
"I'm going to become an architect. It's something that I really love, and I don't want to be one of those people who hates their job.GÇ¥ Shelby McPhearson
"I already got accepted to WSU. I applied there because I want to study criminal justice and they have one of the top criminal justice programs in the West Coast. I'm looking forward to hanging with my boy, Shad; he's going to be my roommate.GÇ¥ Josh Gonzales
"I applied to Idaho for football. If not, then maybe Easton. They have a really good football program there. It's going to be different because I'm alone, with no parents. I'm going to experience the whole world by myself now. It's a big jump.GÇ¥ Deion Bonilla.
Although no one knows what the future will look like, I wish the best to the class of 2015 as they get ready for a shift in each of their lives.
On December 4, our Varsity Choir went on a field trip to the Bellevue Square Mall to sing Christmas songs to the busy shoppers.
After working hard after school to master these songs, they got a treat. After the performance at the mall, they went ice skating and were able to attend the Broadway show of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! During the show, they were able to harmonize with the songs because they had learned them at varsity choir practice. As they went along their merry business, they sang Christmas carols to the pedestrians in Downtown Seattle.
Wrestling has started and is in full swing already! Their first duel was against Monroe High School, and they dominated with a score of 66 to 9. They also had their first tournament, where Matt Baller took first place, along with getting the most pins. Seven other SHS wrestlers also placed in the top three.
Although the girls' basketball team has lost both of their preseason games, they are a group of dedicated girls who are working hard for more wins.
