Turk Talk | Senior Night a success for SHS basketball players, cheerleaders

Both girls and boys basketball season has officially ended, and they are now moving onto the district playoff games. On Friday, there was a doubleheader against Cedar Park Christian (CPC). The girls JV team successfully defeated their opponents, but the boys JV unfortunately lost.
Before starting the varsity games, there were "Senior NightGÇ¥ festivities and senior basketball players and senior cheerleaders were announced as their parents were brought to the floor. The girls varsity team fought hard until the end, but was unable to beat CPC, who won 52 - 43.
Senior Daphne Pohaku reflected on the game, saying, "I wish I could have put a little more out there but I'm proud of the way our team played. I just hope that we get to continue to play ball.GÇ¥
For Belle Ellis, "It was hard-fought and it was fun playing with my team. I love those girls, but it didn't come out the way we wanted it to, but we're not done yet, we're working hard.GÇ¥ The girls had their first playoff game on Saturday, Feb. 7, and beat South Whidbey 33 - 28 and will continue onto the next playoff game.
The score was neck-in-neck at the boys varsity game, until the fourth quarter, when they got ahead. They were able to keep the ball in their possession, winning 52- 41. "Senior night was a blast!GÇ¥ exclaimed player Jordan Alexander, "It was fun to be with our families and recognize the seniors on our final home game of the regular season.GÇ¥
Ronnie Skorka commented that, "We could have played better offense but our defense picked it up and shut them out fourth quarter. Come support us at the playoffs on Monday [Feb. 6] at 7 [p.m.].GÇ¥
Upcoming events
Sultan High School's drama department will perform "GreaseGÇ¥ on Feb. 19, 20 and 21. Tickets are $10 and are on sale in the office, and sold by the cast members.
Students interested in participating in spring sports need to make sure they are completely cleared in the main office by Feb. 27. This includes having all athletic paperwork and forms up-to-date, along with taking care of all fees and fines. Starting March 2, students will practice.
We are having a Spirit Week starting Monday, Feb. 9! Monday is PJ day, Tuesday is Super Fan Day (wear your favorite sports gear), Wednesday is crazy hair day and Thursday is class colors day.
