UPDATE: Martinez trial delayed until 2015

The trial of Carlos Martinez has been postponed until February of 2015, said the Snohomish County Prosecutor's Office on Friday, Sept. 12.
Martinez, a former Monroe police officer and school board member, is facing six counts of sexual misconduct with a minor. Prosecutors allege that Martinez utilized his position as a police officer to cultivate a sexual relationship with a young female who was a minor when the abuse first began.
Martinez was a Monroe police officer for 20 years, serving as a DARE officer for the Monroe School District. He allegedly began his relationship with the victim, who is now in her mid-twenties, in 2003 when she was 14 years old.
He is being charged with two counts of voyeurism, two counts of child molestation in the third degree, rape of a child in the third degree and possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Court proceedings are set to begin on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015.
