A Snohomish County Public Utility District employee is recovering at Harborview Medical Center after a tree fell on his work vehicle near milepost 8 on Sultan Basin Road on Tuesday, March 13.

PUD reports the man, who is in his 60s, had been traveling to the Culmback Dam, part of the district’s Jackson Hydroelectric Project, at the time of the incident.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office closed road for several hours on March 13 to investigate the collision and due to concerns about high winds that had downed other trees in the area.

The incident was reported to 911 around 8:30 a.m., and aid units and sheriff’s deputies responded to extricate the man from his vehicle, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
