VOA dinners becoming popular event

Newlyweds Dave and Christina Sivewright returned from their honeymoon just in time to attend the Volunteers of America's second official Sultan Community Date Night event, which took place on April 3. Coordinated by Volunteers of America Kitchen Coordinator Ann Marie Bunch and volunteer chef Don Langhans, the new monthly dinners are turning out to be popular among community members.

Since the beginning of the year, Bunch and Langhans have worked together to provide guests with affordable, made-from-scratch food using fresh, local ingredients. The menu on Friday included pork loin with apple chutney, a wedge salad with blue cheese, bacon and balsamic syrup, garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. A lemon tart with raspberry coulis was served for dessert. -á

Local teens from the Sultan Boys & Girls Club and the Sultan Community Task Force volunteered at the event, helping to bus tables and perform other tasks as needed.-á

Bunch and Langhans' community dinner events take place on a monthly basis at the VOA A-frame building (617 First St.) in Sultan.-á
