Whackadoodles and Wanderlust goes mobile

She takes old, forgotten spoons that have become tarnished and worn and uses them to create wearable art. Now, after teaming up with friends Denera Repin and Jenn Edelbrock, Whackadoodles and Wanderlust founder Staci Scheffer has literally taken the show on the road.

Scheffer, Repin and Edelbrock, all Monroe residents, made a splash at the Monroe Farm to Table Farmers Market season opener, showing off their new mobile junk shop; a vintage 1970 Shasta camper purchased off Craigslist. The gutted-out camper now sports a spunky pink and teal paint job, with built-in merchandise display areas for Scheffer's Whackadoodles and Wanderlust jewelry and other items.

The mobile shop is cheerfully referred to as "Louise.GÇ¥

Wanderlust Pickins, Scheffer's collaboration with Repin and Edelbrock, is fondly thought of as Whackadoodles and Wanderlust's younger sister. The new venture has enhanced Scheffer's initial vision, adding random treasures found at garage and estate sales and handcrafted dreamcatchers by Repin to Whackadoodles jewelry and spoon art.

The Monroe-based farmers market was just the first stop on their roving calendar, which includes shows in Lynden, Snohomish, Chelan and beyond.

They will travel as far as Boise with the "Great Junk Hunt Vintage Market,GÇ¥ a traveling show with additional dates in Monroe and Puyallup. Louise is a key part of their new venture, enabling them to set up shop just about anywhere.

"We wanted to be mobile to do all the junk shows,GÇ¥ Scheffer said. "We've been having a blast going out treasure hunting everywhere.GÇ¥

The trio picked up Louise in mid-May, recruiting their husbands ' the Wanderlust Brothers ' to help them transform the 17-foot trailer into a cozy, mobile treasure chest. The stars were in alignment the day they stumbled across the affordable trailer on the popular classifieds website, with Scheffer and Edelbrock sending each other the link almost simultaneously.

"Like within four or five seconds, literally,GÇ¥ Edelbrock said. "We dropped everything and went and picked her up.GÇ¥

Louise makes a suitable backdrop for Scheffer's rustic spoon jewelry. Founded last year, Whackadoodles and Wanderlust remains her first passion, she said, and her spoons are her true love. She and her husband, Todd, have dedicated countless hours to creating unique pieces of jewelry that capture the spirit of country living, love, family and hope.

Their work has evolved over the past year to include creative embellishments and bright colorful charms. -á -á

An artist at heart, Scheffer is able to craft custom pieces to suit any occasion, whether a necklace to preserve a cherished memory or a leather wrist-cuff to provide its wearer with a dose of hopeful inspiration. A selection of Whackadoodle's jewelry and other items, including cuffs, necklaces and decorative keychains, is now available at Grow With Me Boutique in Monroe, thanks to a relationship between Scheffer and Grow With Me owner Janae Hoskin.

Scheffer, Edelbrock and Repin may return to the Farm to Table Famers Market sometime before the season ends.
