Trujillo And Schier Write EHS Record Books

At a high school with such a rich history of quality athletics, it’s a rare event when an Eatonville athlete achieves a level of success not yet reached by past Cruisers.  However, this weekend, two Eatonville wrestlers accomplished just that.  Kayla Trujillo and Sadie Schier placed in the annual Mat Classic State Tournament.

For the past four years, Lady Cruisers have been inching ever closer to standing on the podium at State. In 2019, the Lady Cruisers brought home the Academic State Title as a team and for the fourth year in a row, Eatonville sent female quali?ers to the Tacoma Dome.
Kayla a senior and Sadie Schier a junior, represented the Cruisers this year.

Kayla, who was the ?rst in school history to qualify for the Mat Classic back in 2017 as a freshman.  She unfortunately su?ered a dislocated elbow during the ?rst day of competition that year.  Trujillo returned to the dome last season and went the furthest but fell short of placing by a single match.  This season, in the 130lb weight class, Trujillo (38-6) secured her spot into the state tournament with a second place ?nish in regionals that followed a district 1st place performance just one week prior.

Sadie Schier (28-8) also represented the Cruisers in Tacoma at 135lbs. Despite being only a second year experienced wrestler, Schier has made back to back Mat Classic appearances. Schier was a district champion this season and quali?ed for Mat Classic with a 3rd place ?nish at the regional tournament.

There is no doubt that the Lady Cruisers will again improve upon this success in the coming seasons with Schier returning and several talented freshmen coming up next season from the middle school.
