Pierce County Alert notifies residents of emergencies

Pierce County residents are encouraged to sign up for the county's emergency alert system, Pierce County Alert. Residents can sign up to receive notifications about the areas and locations of their choosing. The service is free, and users only receive alerts for the communities they choose.

The county's emergency management system will send out time-sensitive messages when different emergencies arise, such as severe weather, flooding or unexpected road closures. Alerts are also used for missing person bulletins and evacuations of buildings or neighborhoods.

Residents can receive alerts on up to 10 different devices, including home, mobile or business phone, email, text message and more.

Read more or sign up on the Pierce County Department of Emergency Management website, or text pcalert to 888777.
