County Council approves park master plan updates

At its Oct. 5 meeting, the Pierce County Council passed a pair of master plan updates.

Proposal No. R2021-168 adopted the Orangegate Park Master Plan 2021 update.

Orangegate Park is an under-developed 150-acre property in the Summit-Waller community intersection of 84th Street East and 46th Avenue East. The property is split by the Tacoma Water Pipeline, which will be developed with a new trail in 2022-23, and 84th Street East. Pierce County Parks purchased the property from the state Department of Natural Resources in 1998.

Proposal No. R2021-169 adopted the Half Dollar Park Master Plan 2021 update.

Half Dollar Park is an undeveloped 3.5-acre property located in the South Hill area along the west side of 94th Avenue East between 120th and 122nd streets. The property is split by the Tacoma Water Pipeline, which will be developed as part of the Pipeline Trail that will connect existing Nathan Chapman Memorial Trail Park in South Hill to the recently constructed Pipeline Trail within Tacoma.
