Sports Shorts: Sept. 13-Sept. 19

Swimming

On Thursday, the Cruisers hosted the Shelton Highclimbers, who bested the Cruisers, 103-67. Olivia White was the only Cruiser to pick up a win on the day. White broke the school record she set last year in the 200-yard individual medley and took the top spot of the podium in that event and the 100-yard breaststroke.

Volleyball

It was a rough second week of play for the Cruisers. Sept. 13, they were shutout by the Rainier Mountaineers 3-0, and on Thursday were again shutout by the Toledo Indians. They will try to bounce back this week with a match against the Morton-White Pass Timberwolves.

Boys tennis

The Cruisers lost their only match this week to the Shelton Highclimbers, 4-2. Freshman Brody Thirtyacre and the doubles combo of Gavin Vander Hoek and Jaiden Sobczyk won their matches for the Cruisers. They look to bounce back this week with three matches against Centralia, Tumwater and Aberdeen.

Girls soccer

The Cruisers played to a 1-1 draw against rival Orting, Sept. 13. Kennedy Knoble picked up the lone goal for the Cruisers. The following day, they fell to the Vashon Pirates, 5-1, with Michelle Kahler picking up the Cruiser goal on a penalty kick. They closed the week out on Saturday with a scoreless draw against the Cascade Christian Cougars.

Cross country

The boys team would take the overall team win in their meet in Hoquiam against all other league teams: Hoquiam, Tenino, Elma and Montesano. Eatonville's top runner was Joey Mueller, who took third place. For the girls, Cheyenne Price finished sixth, with Aubrey Meadows finishing ninth.
