The bomb show continued this past week for the Eatonville softball team as the Cruisers hit five more home runs and picked up two more wins, this time over league opponent Tenino, to improve to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in Evergreen League play.
The Cruisers took on Tenino in a double-header this past Thursday with Eatonville coming away with 7-5 and 13-3 victories.
Hailey Rath and Berkeley Porter continued the Cruiser home run show with Rath slugging three and Porter two. Those five home runs helped extend the Cruisers’ team total to 24 home runs in nine games to lead the state. The next closest team is 4A Puyallup with 17 home runs.
In game one, Sarah Smith got the call on the bump for the Cruisers, and the righty went eight innings, allowing five runs on 10 hits while striking out eight Beaver hitters.
In game two, Porter took the ball and went six innings, allowing three runs on five hits and six strikeouts.
The Cruisers will host the White River Hornets (7-2) at 4 p.m. on Friday before ending the week making up a rained-out game at noon Saturday against the Tenino Beavers (2-9).
