Lady Cruisers Fastpitch keep steamrolling opponents

The Eatonville High School Fastpitch team continued to dominate their opponents last week. In the four games they played, they outscored their opponents 75-13 and walked away with wins in each game.

The Cruisers kicked off a grueling four-day schedule when they played host to the Steilacoom Sentinels. Mary Chabot was clutched at the plate for the Cruisers with runners on base at Monday’s game, April 15, as she drove in four runs on the day. She drove in two runs in the first inning after reaching the base on an error. She drove in a couple more in the third inning on a hard line drive to the left. She also swiped four bases on the day.

Ashley Hedrick and Haley Rath supplied the long ball in the game. Hedrick’s home run came first in the third inning on a 1-0 pitch that she sent over the center field fence. Rath struck next in the fourth inning when she took the first pitch, which went over the fence in center field. 

The Cruisers went on to take the win 19-5. Haley Olson earned the win for the Cruisers.

The team packed up the following day, April 16, and headed to Lakewood to take on the Clover Park High School Warriors. The Cruisers placed the game out of reach for Clover Park before the Warriors had a chance to swing the bat. Eatonville placed 10 runs in the first inning. Then put up 17 more in the next inning. Chabot had the hot bat again. She drove in seven runs in the day on a double and a pair of singles to help lead the Lady Cruisers to a 29-0 win.

Olson threw a one-hit shutout for the Cruisers and picked up her ninth win of the season.

After the offensive explosion against the Warriors, the Cruisers returned home to host the Tenino Beavers in a non-league affair. 

Berkley Porter started for Eatonville and earned the win for the Cruisers who saw the bottom part of their line up coming up big in the game. Brooklynn Lucht, Chabot, Kaitlyn Rath, Dakota Smith and Ashley Hedrick all made multiple hits in the game to help lead the Cruisers over the Beavers with a score of 12-5.

Eatonville finished off the week by heading to Cardinal country to pay a visit to their longtime rivals, The Orting Cardinals.

The Cruisers tacked on seven runs in the first inning to put the game away. Smith and Rath both hit home runs in the game to help propel the Lady Cruisers to a 15-3 win.

After last week’s games, the Cruisers now sit at 13-1 overall and in the top spot in league play with an 8-0 record. They have scored a total of 224 runs this season, which is more runs scored than any other 2A school in the state. Their 13 wins put them in a tie with one other 2A school for the most wins in the state of Washington.
