Lady Cruisers pick up first wins last week

This past week, the Lady Cruiser basketball team dove into league play and picked up their first win of the season in the process.

On Jan. 17, the Cruisers hosted Elma High School and weren't very good hosts as they sent Elma packing with a 62-30 drubbing behind the season-high 31 points from Hailey Rath.

The Cruisers followed up that victory by heading to Hoquiam High School to take on the Grizzlies.

Eatonville continued its winning ways with a 40-30 victory. Rath again led the Cruisers with 13 points on the night. Freshman Bailey Andersen chipped in nine points.

The Cruisers finished up the week with a trip to Tenino to take on the Tenino Beavers. The Beavers' full-court press to start the game stifled Eatonville and allowed Tenino to pull out to a 12-point, 20-8, lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Cruisers never recovered as Tenino increased that lead behind Ashley Schow's 19 points to hand the Cruisers their second league loss, 49-28.

Senior Berkeley Porter led the Cruisers with 10 points, with eight of those coming in the second half. Andersen pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds.

As of Monday, Eatonville sat at 2-2 in league play and 2-7 overall.
