Lawrence E. Doll 1933 - 2022
Lawrence (Larry) E. Doll was born July 6, 1933 in Aberdeen Washington, and passed away peacefully at home on April 28, 2022 with his loving wife Cyndy by his side.
Larry attended elementary school in White Pines, California then returned to Washington where he began working as a commercial tuna fisherman at the age of 14.
At 16, he joined the U.S. Army, for which he was honored with two purple hearts and a Silver Star for his courageous service in Korea. He was honorably discharged at the age of 18 and briefly returned to California to work as a logger out of Angels Camp.
Larry spent the majority of his career, both in Colorado and Washington, in sales, first in automotive parts and later paint and auto body supply. Larry had many interests in his lifetime. He served as president of the Grand Valley Field Archers in Grand Junction, Colorado. He moved to Eatonville in 1965 and continued his pastime of hunting and fishing. Larry was very active in his community. He served on the Eatonville Reserve Police Force, coached both softball and baseball teams and was somewhat active in the local Lions Club with a special claim to fame as a member of the “Rose of Ohop” chorus line. Larry devoted many years to the Fraternal Order of Eagles, holding a dual membership in both Eatonville and Puyallup. He was an active participant in breaking ground and moving the Eatonville club from the downtown area to its present location. Although short lived, he helped form the Jr Eagles in an attempt to include our local youth. Larry found his calling, and much joy, for several years as a very popular BINGO caller. Never idle in his service to the Eagles, Larry not only worked through the chairs locally but continued through District and Zone offices and finally serving as Washington State President in 2003-2004. Larry was an inspirational member of many ritual teams where 100% was always his goal.
Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Wallace. He leaves behind his wife Cyndy, three children, Cheryl Louthan, Daniel Doll (Sue), and Teresa Doll and will be greatly missed by his 11 grand-children, 18 great grand-children and 4 great-great grand-children.
A celebration of life will be held at the Eatonville Eagles, Sunday, June 19, 2022. Informal gathering at 1:00 pm, Ceremony at 3:00 pm followed by potluck and fellowship. Military honors will be presented at Tahoma National Cemetery, Monday, June 20, 2022 at 10:00 am. Donations in honor of Larry may be made to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.
