EHS spotlights fine arts programs for board

Provided to The Dispatch

During the Jan. 17 school board meeting, Principal Amy Sturdivant from Eatonville High School presented to the school board directors. The Eatonville High School Food Science students prepared refreshments for the board members and audience including a variety of appetizers and pastries.

Academic data was presented, along with highlights of the fine arts programs available to students.

The presentation included:

• Live EHS Jazz Band Performance: The Eatonville High School Jazz Band performed a piece entitled “Back On Line.” The EHS Jazz Band is an extra-curricular pursuit, meaning that jazz band members must meet for rehearsals outside of the school day. The jazz band rehearses at 6:30 a.m. twice weekly and performs publicly several times per year.

• Student Art Gallery: Board members conducted a “gallery walk” of student art displays and were able to discuss with student artists the positive impact of their fine arts classes at EHS.
