Eatonville's Brailee VandenBoom cleared 5 feet 2 inches to win the girls' high jump title in the Shelton Invitational high school track and field meet April 30. VandenBoom, one of the highest-ranked high jumpers in Washington from 1A schools, beat Chloe Lindbo of Ridgefield, Claire Hansen of Beamer and Emily Riehl of South Kitsap, who shared second place at 5-0. The victory in Shelton followed VandenBoom's wins in the same event in two other large meets GÇô the Kalama Twilight Invitational and the Tacoma Invitational. Eatonville had two other top-10 finishers in the Shelton meet, both in the boys' competition. Ryan Antonson was third in the javelin at 166 feet 5 inches, and Ray Springer was eighth in the long jump at 19 feet 11.5 inches. Forty-one teams participated in the invitational.
