Two people died in a crash during a high-speed chase involving a stolen car and police Wednesday in the Spanaway area. The Pierce County Sheriff Department identified the driver of the car as Brew Alex Baker, 22. The name of the passenger, reportedly a 19-year-old female, wasn't released. According to the Sheriff Department, a resident of a home on 149th Street Court East called 9-1-1 Wednesday afternoon and said her daughter's friends had left a stolen automobile in the home's garage. The woman called back nine minutes later to report that her daughter's friends had left with the stolen car, a white Honda sedan, and that some of them were also driving a black Honda. Sheriff deputies found both vehicles near the intersection of 152nd Street South and 22nd Avenue East. Both cars sped away, and in separate chases, the white Honda collided with another car at 22nd and Military Road. Baker and the passenger of the white Honda died in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle survived, authorities said. The black Honda was stopped by police, who arrested the driver, a 19-year-old man, on suspicion of car theft. He and Baker had been arrested previously for stealing cars, authorities said.
