Cruisers still own sub-districts

Eatonville High School kept its winning streaks in sub-district meets alive last week and, in the process, earned a combined 59 entries in this week's 1A district track and field meet in Tumwater. For the fourth consecutive year in the boys' competition and the third year in a row for the girls, Eatonville rolled to the team titles last Friday in the Evergreen League sub-district meet in Montesano. Twenty-nine Cruisers on the girls' side and 22 among the boys qualified for the District 4 meet, where entries into the state 1A champiionshps will be decided. Among those making the district grade for Eatonville's girls were six multiple-event winnes. They included Alexa Graddy, who won the 100 in 13.18 seconds and finished third in the 200; Brailee VandenBoom, winner of the high jump winner (5 feet 2 inches) and the 400 and second in the 200; Isabelle Snyder, who swept the 1,00 and 3,200; Emma Vuksich in the 1,600 and 3,200; Audrey Madison, second in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles; and Madeline Madison in the 300 hurdles and the pole vault. Other winnes for the Cruisers were the 4x100 relay team (Natasha Henley, Graddy, Skyler Simon and Kaitlyn Rath), Samantha Swartuot in the javelin (113-10).and Henley in the triple jump (32-1.75). For Eatonville's boys, victories were recorded by Josiah Hotz in the 400 (51.6 second), Ryan Donohue in the 110 high hurdles (16.8), and Tucker Buffington in the pole vault with a school-record 13 feet. Multi-event district qualifiers include Hotz (400, 100), Ryan Antonson (javelin and discus), Zarak Scruggs (triple jump, long jump, 100), Dorian Dewitt (1,600, 3,200), and T.J. McCarther (triple jump, high jump). Donohue, Scraggs and Hotz teamed with Ray Springer to qualify in the 4x100 relay.
