Born 1/18/1931 in Van Buren, AR, Earl gave up his battle against cancer on 9/20/2013 in Graham, WA. Devoted family man, Earl is survived by wife Betty, of 49 years; brother Eddy Barnes, daughters Juanita (Gary) Houston, Mary Anne (Ron) Coleman, Dawn Mahaffey, and son Scott (Christie) Morris; plus a wealth of grandchildren through great-great-grandchildren and extended family. Preceded in death by brother Robert Barnes, son Rodney Barnes and granddaughter Laura Lyle. Status of son Ronald Barnes, unknown. Earl joined the U.S. Army at 17 and was a veteran of the Korean War. He left the Army in 1964 when he met Betty, the love of his life. He worked as a Master Electrician for Boeing and West Tacoma Newsprint, and retired from Penzoil Corporation in 1986. He was also a lifelong entrepreneur. Always first to offer help to anyone, Earl often applied his skills as an inventor and electronics genius. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Mountain Highway Baptist Church, 24621 36th Ave Ct. E., Spanaway. (253) 847-0133.
