One had to overcome a two-touchdown deficit and the other won in a runaway, but high school football victories by Graham-Kapowsin and Bethel last week had the same result: The road to the 4A South Puget Sound League South Division's championship now runs through the Bethel School District. The district mates share the division lead after Graham-Kapowsin's 35-23 decision over Curtis and Bethel's 34-7 triumph against Rogers. The winners are 2-0 within the division and 4-0 overall. With a win this Friday over Spanaway Lake, G-K can at least temporarily have the SPSL South's best record. Bethel is taking a week off from league action in order to face Mountain View this Friday in Vancouver. G-K trailed Curtis 14-0 after the first quarter and 21-14 at halftime before dominating the second half, partly on the passing of quarterback Dylan Morris. The freshman threw two touchdown passes in the third quarter to give the Eagles their first lead, which they kept. Meanwhile, at Art Crate Field against Rogers, Bethel had another big scoring performance. Coupled with a 47-41 victory over Puyallup the week before, the Braves have averaged 40 points in their last two games.
