Week 5: Prep football scouting report

Spanaway Lake (1-3) at Graham-Kapowsin (4-0), Oct. 2, 7 p.m.
An early-season showdown in University Place between co-leaders of the 4A South Puget Sound League's South Division went to Graham-Kapowsin in a 35-23 victory over Curtis last Friday. The Eagles will be back in the friendlier surroundings of Art Crate Field for a duel with cross-district rival Spanaway Lake. The Sentinels have lost three games in a row, including a non-league 56-0 whitewashing last week by Union. G-K trailed Curtis 14-0 after the first quarter and 21-14 at halftime before going ahead for good with two third-period touchdowns passes from quarterback Dylan Morris to Jeremiah Kekoa (eight yards) and Elan Olmos (37 yards). Villami Hansen's eight-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter sewed up the outcome.
Eatonville (2-2) at Montesano (3-1), Oct. 2
After blanking Aberdeen 48-0 last week, Montesano is sharing the 1A Evergreen League lead with Hoquiam. Eatonville had occupied the top spot for eight weeks, counting all of last season (when the Cruisers won the Evergree title in their first year as a member) until falling to Hoquiam 23-13 last Friday. Hoquiam led 17-0 at halftime and saw its lead shrink to 10 points after the Cruisers' Logan Moose ran four yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. The Grizzlies rebuilt their advantage to 23-7 heading into the final period and held off Eatonville, which scored once more on quarterback Jacob McCormick's 22-yard pass to Brooks Moeller. Montesano led 42-0 at halftime against Aberdeen, a team Eatonville beat 43-20 two weeks ago.
Bethel (4-0) at Mountain View (3-1)
After securing a share of South Division league of the 4A South Puget Sound League with a 34-7 decision over Rogers last week, Bethel is taking a week off from the SPSL for a contest in Vancouver with the Thunder.
