A collision Monday in the Spanaway area between a motorcycle and an automobile left one person dead, the State Patrol reported. The fatality was identified as Tristan T. Newton, 27, of Tacoma. Troopers said Newton was driving a motorcycle southbound on State Route 7 when he failed to stop for a red light at 204th Street and was struck by a car turning onto the highway. The car's driver, a 50-year-old Spanaway man, wasn't injured.
