For the second time in three years, The Dispatch has been rated one of the top community newspapers in Washington. The Dispatch placed third in the Group I circulation category in the 2015 Washington Newspaper Association's Better Newspaper Contest, whose winners were announced Oct. 9 in Everett during the annual WNPA convention. The General Excellence Award, which The Dispatch also received in 2013 as a third-place finisher, is based on newspapers' overall news content, advertising and design. Twelve newspapers statewide GÇô three for each of four circulation sizes GÇô receive General Excellence Awards. Also for the second time since 2013, Road to Rainier, a visitors' guide published annually and circulated statewide by The Dispatch, received a second-place award in the Tourism/Community Guide Special Sections category in this year's Better Newspaper Contest. Members of the Kansas Press Association were the judges for the WNPA contest.
