Aug. 21 was the first official day of practice for the 2013 football season for high schools in Washington, and Eatonville, Graham-Kapowsin and Bethel had their teams on the practice fields. The squads are preparing for their first games of the season, which are less than three weeks away. Eatonville will open at home against Orting in a non-league contest Sept. 6, Graham-Kapowsin will travel to Idaho to meet Post Falls on Sept. 5, and Bethel will kick things off at home against Spanaway Lake, a Bethel School District rival and a fellow South Puget Sound League 4A South division member. Graham-Kapowsin, another SPSL member, will get into the conference portion of its schedule Sept. 13 when the Eagles host Curtis. Bethel will have its second home game in as many weeks the night before when the Braves entertain Tahoma in a non-league outing. Eatonville will take the long bus drive Sept. 13 to Elma for another non-league encounter.
