Storm huffs and puffs

Relatively small power outages in south Pierce County were continuing Wednesday after a wind and rain storm blew through the region Tuesday. Puget Sound Energy reported 16 customers in the Graham, Eatonville and South Hill areas were without electricity. The utility company (PSE) estimated that power would be restored by Thursday afternoon. Those customers were among about 45,000 throughout the Puget Sound region whose power was still out at 3 p.m. Wednesday as a result of the storm, according to PSE. A spokeswoman said crews were "making good progressGÇ¥ in repairs and restoring electricity. "The storm impacted our transmission and distribution systems, including some of our substations,GÇ¥ the spokeswoman said. Wind gusts as strong as 60 miles per hour wracked parts of western Washington, knocking down streets. Accompanying rain contributed to flooding.
