Three hurt in SR-161 crash

An Eatonville man was among three motorists who were injured in a traffic accident Tuesday morning in the Graham area. He and one other motorist were taken to hospitals for medical attention. The third was treated at the scene of the accident. According to the State Patrol, a car driven by a 23-year-old Puyallup man and a truck driven by a 21-year-old Federal Way man collided while northbound and southbound, respectively, on State Route 161 near 247th Street Court East. One of the vehicles came to a stop 25 feet off the highway. A State Patrol spokesman said troopers attributed the cause of the crash to reckless driving, excessive speed for the conditions, and unsafe passing. A possible charge of vehicular assault against one of the drivers was pending.
