Graham-Kapowsin bowlers are state academic champs

Graham-Kapowsin High School’s bowling may not have won the biggest prize on the lanes, but the Eagles are the best academically.
G-K’s bowlers are among the Academic State Champions for the 2016-17 winter sports season, as announced last week by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA).
The awards Program are for the teams with the highest grade point average (gpa) collectively among all Washington high schools in their respective sports and enrollment classifications.
Graham-Kapowsin, with a gpa of 3.6, was tops in the 4A class.
The Eagles’ coach is Michael Stallman.
The award-winning teams in bowling and the other winter sports of basketball, wrestling, gymnastics and boys swimming will receive plaques from WIAA, the governing body of high school athletics in Washington
Other extracurricular activities such as dance and drill teams, cheerleader squads, and fine arts (band, choir, orchestra, drama and debate) also can earn state academic honors.
