Tucker Buffington, a senior Eatonville High, finished fourth in the pole vault in the state 2A high school track and field championships Friday.
Buffington cleared 14 feet, a foot lower than champion Thomas Janicki of Sedro-Woolley.
Two of Buffington’s teammates advanced to the finals of their events.
Zarak Scruggs made it in the boys 100-meter dash. The senior was clocked at 10.96 seconds in the preliminaries, the fifth-fastest among the eight that moved on.
Ryan Antonson made it to the finals in the javelin with a throw of 176 feet 9 inches, the sixth best.
Competition ends today in the three-day meet held at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.
