See Fantasy Lights on foot for one night only

The public can get a sneak preview of this year's Fantasy Lights show at Spanaway Park by walking through the exhibit on Nov. 19 from 5 to 8 p.m.
The two miles of animated displays is hosted annually by Pierce County Parks and Recreation. The usual driving tours will start Nov. 23 and continue through Jan. 1.

Northwest Trek promotion helps food network

Each visitor who brings two or more items of non-perishable food to donate to Emergency Food Network (EFN) will be admitted to Northwest Trek for half of the usual general admission fee through Nov. 19.
The food drive will benefit the non-profit EFN, which supplies food banks throughout Pierce County. The half-off admission offer applies to adults and children and also is available at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, which, like the wildlife park near Eatonville, is operated by TAcoma Metro Park.
Suggested food donations include canned tuna, chicken and salmon, peanut butter, canned stew, canned or dried fruits and vegetables, baby food and infant formula. Additional information on the most needed items is located at www.efoodnet.org.
Emergency Food Network provides 16 million pounds of food each year to 70 food banks, hot-meal sites and shelters. More than 1.3 million visits are made to food banks in Pierce County each year, according to EFN. .
Northwest Trek is open from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays through Sundays.
