In case you are not aware, something remarkable is happening in Eatonville: The high school girls wrestling team is making a splash in the South Puget Sound League.
The team took five girls to sub-regions (29 schools, including the top two in the state -- Yelm and Federal Way). The team finished the tournament in sixth place, and all five girls have qualified for the regional tournament on Friday at Decatur. It’s worth noting that prior to last season, Eatonville had never had a girl wrestler qualify for state. This season, all five of these girls are poised to make an appearance should things go well this coming weekend It’s a credit to the coaching staff that has this group competing at this level in just a couple seasons. With the rapid growth of girls wrestling participation all over the state, the Cruisers are setting up to be a powerhouse ahead of the rest.
