Eatonville High School wrestlers secured their places for the state tournament over the weekend.

Hundreds of wrestlers battled it out looking to finish in the top three of their weight class to earn a trip to the state tournament, while a fourth-place finish would send you to the state competition as an alternate.

In the boys' division, competing at the 1A Regional Tournament held at Hoquiam High School, Eatonville wrestlers delivered commendable performances against tough competition.

Kasey Whitney emerged as a standout, claiming the regional title in the 132lb weight class with a narrow 4-2 victory over Landon Fulton of Castle Rock. This marked Whitney's third consecutive year qualifying for the state tournament.

Joining Whitney on the podium were Mark Devera (113lb), Trey StaRosa (150lb), and Jacob Ostendorf (157lb), all securing 3rd place finishes, while Justen Koch (120lb) and Ethan Rogers (175lb) clinched 4th place spots. Despite the fierce competition, Eatonville managed to clinch 4th place overall out of the 11 teams competing.

Meanwhile, in the girls' division, Eatonville's sole representative, Brooke Ostendorf, delivered a commendable performance at the 1B/2B/1A/2A Regional Tournament hosted by Centralia HS. Ostendorf secured a 3rd place finish in the 135lb weight class, earning herself a spot at the state tournament.

Eatonville High School will be well-represented at the upcoming WIAA Mat Classic XXXV, with a total of five wrestlers set to compete, and two alternates.

The state tournament is scheduled to take place on February 16-17 at the Tacoma Dome.

In line with the WIAA's transition to paperless ticketing, fans are encouraged to purchase their State Tournament tickets digitally through GoFan, the WIAA’s ticketing partner. While online purchases are preferred, limited paper tickets will be available for purchase onsite using mobile devices.
