Eatonville still going in district playoffs

Eatonville kept its girls basketball post-season hopes alive by beating Franklin Pierce 46-35 in the 2A West Central District playoffs.

The victory in the loser-out contest sends the Cruisers to a Feb. 15 matchup with Kingston at Curtis High in University Place. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Winning that one would give Eatonville one more chance on Feb. 17 (against an opponent still to be decided) to earn a berth in the regionals as the district’s fifth-place finisher. On the other hand, one more loss this week will end the Cruisers’ season.

So far, Eatonville has won two of its three district games. A 63-58 victory over Olympic was followed by a 66-22 drubbing by Fife. The latter dropped the Cruisers into the loser-out bracket of the playoffs.
