Cruisers' seasons on the line

Eatonville's girls and boys basketball teams face a loser-out situation this week in the 1A girls high school basketball district playoffs. On the girls' side of the District 4 tourney, the Cruisers and White Salmon will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kelso High School. The winner will advance to another game Thursday against either Kalama or Montesano, while the loser's season will come to an end. Eatonville and White Salmon lost in the district tournament's first round last Friday GÇô Eatonville to La Center 58-26, and White Salmon to Elma 53-35. Four teams will earn berths in the regionals. The Eatonville boys, as a result of their 50-48 loss to Kalama Feb. 12 and a 70-53 victory over Tenino last Saturday, face King's Way Christian at 8 p.m. Thursday at W.F. West High School in Chehalis. A loss would terminate the Cruisers' season. But a win would assure them of being one of the top four teams and a spot in the regionals, because Eatonville would play Friday in a game to determine the third and fourth-place finishers.
