Bethel will play a familiar foe – Lincoln – for the 3A West Central District high school girls basketball championship this Saturday.
The two teams finished first (Lincoln with a 14-0 record) and second (Bethel at 12-2) in the Pierce County League during the regular season. Lincoln won both times they met during that time.
With three straight victories apiece in the playoffs so far, they have been marching toward the district title showdown that’s scheduled for 2 p.m. at Puyallup High. Bethel’s latest victory was Wednesday over Gig Harbor 55-47. The same night, Lincoln nipped Prairie 44-42.
Both teams are assured of playing in the regionals, which will be staged Feb. 23-24. Games and locations haven’t been announced. The regionals will decide the field for the state tournament.
