Cruiser baseball opens with a tie

The Eatonville Cruisers Baseball team travelled to Tenino to open up the season, striking first in the first inning. After a leadoff single by Zach Smith, a walk by Andrew Wiklund, Wade Wikander was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Ryan Bailey. Bailey hit a hard grounder through the infield to score Smith. The Beavers answered back in the bottom of the inning by scoring two runs to take the lead 2-1.

In the third, the Beavers pushed across 2 more runs to extend their lead to 4-1.

In the top of the 4th inning, the Cruiser scoring would start back up with 6 consecutive hits, giving the Cruisers a 7-4 lead.

The Beavers would fight back and push three more runs across to tie the game up at 7.

Both teams would go scoreless in the 5th inning and then the game was called due to darkness.. Zach Smith lead the Cruisers with three hits in four at bats, scoring twice, with one RBI and three stolen bases. Smith also came in to pitch in the bottom of the 4th to get the strike out to retire the side. He then finished the game by getting a ground out and striking out 2 Beaver batters.  Next up for the Cruisers is a home game against Highline. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
