FREE DENTAL DAY

HUMANE SOCIETY ADOPTION EVENT
The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County is hosting the 12-day-long “Purrfect 12” Adoption Event. Focused on finding adult and senior cats in the shelter their fur-ever homes, adoption fees for all adult cats (ages 6 months and older) and senior cats (8 years and older) are $12 off through September 23 during offered business hours. FREE STATE PARKS DAY
Sept. 28 is the next state parks free day. No Discover Pass needed in honor of National Public Lands Day. State Parks free days are in keeping with 2011 legislation that created the Discover Pass, which costs $30 annually or $10 for a one-day visit. The pass is required for vehicle access to state recreation lands managed by Washington State Parks, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). There are two more state parks free days available in 2019: Monday, Nov. 11 — Veterans Day; and Friday, Nov. 29 — autumn free day.

Tickets are now available for the first South Sound Democrats event, the Rosa Parks/Eleanor Roosevelt Champagne Brunch, for which a pre-event reception will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Pacific Lutheran University ‘s Chris Knutzen Hall. The event is a joint fundraiser sponsored by multiple Pierce County Legislative Districts. With a live auction, powerful community leaders, including Erin Jones, former assistant state superintendent, consultant and inspirational equity instructor; state legislators; U.S. Congress members; and Hilary Franz, state commissioner of public lands, among others. COMMUNITY DAY
The 11th annual Bethel Community Day at run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at Graham Kapowsin High School at 22100 108th Ave. E., Graham. Admission is free. Come dress as a superhero to march in a 10 a.m. parade.
EMS FALL FEST
Eatonville Middle School’s Fall Fest will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Eatonville Middle School. There will be a variety of activities geared toward family fun, with the opportunity to give to others. Bring garden produce, food for the food for Eatonville Food Bank, old eye glasses, medical equipment and wheelchairs, as well as clean and unused medical supplies. Pioneer Farm Museum will host the 40th annual Founders Day free event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 13. at 7716 Ohop Valley Road E. TRAILS CONFERENCE
ForeverGreen Trails is pleased to announce that the Annual Pierce County Trails Conference will be held from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17. The annual conference will be held at the Environmental Services Building, located at 9850 64th St. W., University Place. It is the premier gathering of trail users, supporters, advocates, designers and builders in our region and this year’s theme is “Sustainability & Stewardship.” Conference registration costs $35 and includes dinner and access to a silent auction. The Eatonville Family Agency, a nonprofit charitable organization, supports and runs the only backpack program in the Eatonville School District, which feeds around 100 children each weekend.
