Bearcat Beat | MHS encourages leadership, networking

As Monroe High School (MHS) approaches spring break, it's still busy as ever.
The Associated Student Body (ASB) -áwrapped up its last event, for its most recent round of committees, with the leadership breakfast last Friday, March 27. The breakfast is a special event that is a new tradition at the high school. It was created to recognize those who exude leadership but also to act as a catalyst to those who may not recognize they possess leadership qualities. There were several members from the community who spoke with students about how they use leadership in their careers.
Following the breakfast, there was also a leadership seminar organized by MHS alumnus Brandon Harano. Students had the opportunity to network with local community members involved in such fields as: medicine, entrepreneurship, management, law enforcement, entertainment marketing and government. A vital component to success is networking, so thank you very much to Harano for giving MHS students the opportunity to begin working on that skill.
This week, March 30 until April 3, the MHS Rotary Club Students of the Month will host a food drive at the high school for the Sky Valley Food Bank. The sixth-period class to raise the most money will get a doughnut party. All cans can be brought to sixth-period teachers.
