Beer, wine, candidate meet-and-greet on Oct. 21

Paula’s Wine Knot Beer and Wine Bar will be hosting a free community event 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21.

Owner Paula Peak invites the public to attend a meet-and-greet and question-and-answer session with Monroe City Councilmember Jim Kamp, who is running for mayor. Free snacks will be provided, and drinks can be purchased.

Both of Monroe’s mayoral candidates have been invited to speak during the event but Monroe Mayor Geoffrey Thomas will not be able to make it.

“Paula did extend the invite to me,” he said. “I had a prior family commitment at that time, and I had responded I would not be able to attend.”

Kamp will not be given the questions ahead of the event. He will have two minutes to answer each question being posed to him for the first time that night.

Each resident is asked to bring in one question, typed ahead of time, to drop in a closed-lid box when they arrive. Attendees must be at least 18.
