The Monroe Historical Society will hold its quarterly meeting at the Tualco Grange Hall on Saturday, May 17 to celebrate the history of Pioneer Schools in Monroe.
Speakers will explore the history of the Tualco School, as well as the following schools: Mt. Forest, Wagner, Roosevelt, Fern Bluff, Stocker, Ben Howard, Park Place and Central School.
Alumni of these schools and the public are encouraged to attend and bring pictures or mementoes they may have of the pioneer schools.
A commemorative pioneer schools quilt, designed and constructed by master quilter Janet Osborn and historical member Gail Dillaway, will be on display with raffle tickets available for purchase.
The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. and refreshments will be served. An open-mic session will allow guests to share their own experiences in the schools.
The old Tualco School (now the Tualco Grange) is located at 18933 Tualco Rd. just outside Monroe across the Lewis Street Bridge.
All ages are welcome.
