Charles H. Jones January 24, 1929 - December 24, 2016

Charles H. Jones, a longtime resident of Sultan, WA, passed away December 24, 2016. He was born January 24,1929 in Henryetta, OK. He was 87 years-old. He served in the Korean War from 1951-52 and earned the Purple Heart. He was discharged at rank of Corporal.
Charlie worked as a Chief observer on a Seismograph crew, a millwright and heavy duty mechanic throughout his life and retired in 1996 from the Forest Service in Skykomish, WA. He was a member of the VFW, DAV and U.S.W.A. Operating Engineers Labor Union. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Sultan, WA.
Charlie enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman early in life. Later, he spent most of his time rock hunting and then cutting and polishing his “finds.” He was well known for his beautiful collection of Blue Forest wood and Sweetwater Moss Agates. He always had some in his pockets to show others.
Charlie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gerry Jones and a son, Curt Jones. Charlie’s brother, June Jones, also preceded him in death. Charlie is survived by his oldest son, Craig Jones and his wife Anna Jones of Troutdale, OR., grandchildren Nicole Delatorre, Hillary Jones, Evan Jones and a great-grandchild, Heath Delatorre.
A memorial service was held on January 5, 2017 at the Masonic Lodge in Monroe, WA at 2pm. It was Charlie’s wish to have his ashes scattered across the Sweetwater Agate beds in Wyoming that he so dearly loved. He will be missed by all.
