Charlie Daniels to play Fair


 
Legendary southern rockers The Charlie Daniels Band, up-and-coming country star Chris Young and Sequim-based international stars Emblem3 are among the music acts that will appear at this year's Evergreen State Fair, the Snohomish County Parks Department announced last week.
The Charlie Daniels Band, led by singer, guitarist and violinist Charlie Daniels, first broke into the Top 10 in 1973 with a humorous song called "Uneasy Rider,GÇ¥ about a long-haired young man trying to talk his way out of a confrontation.
Further hits included "The Devil Went Down to Georgia,GÇ¥ famous for its riotous violin part, and "The South's Gonna Do It Again.GÇ¥
Daniels had further hits into the 1980s and 1990s, has recorded county and gospel albums, and was inducted into The Grand Ol' Opry in 2007.
Currently 77, Charlie Daniels continues to tour regularly.
Daniels' fair concert will include a special guest appearance from fellow Southern rock notables The Marshall Tucker Band, whose hits include "Fire on the MountainGÇ¥ and "Can't You See.GÇ¥ The relationship between the two bands goes back to the 1970s, and both have been recording for more than 40 years.

Chris Young
Chris Young came to fame after winning the television competition show Nashville Star in 2006. The win led to a recording project which resulted in the country hits "Drinkin' Me LonelyGÇ¥ and "You're Gonna Love Me.GÇ¥
The next album spawned three number one hits; the third two more, and 2013's "A.M.GÇ¥ sent "Aw NawGÇ¥ and "Who I Am with YouGÇ¥ into the top five on the country charts.
Young will be joined by young country acoustic artist Courtney Cole, who will do a half-hour set to start.
The Chris Young show will take place Thursday, Aug. 28, and tickets went on sale last week.
The Newsboys
One of the world's most prominent Christian pop acts, the Newsboys, is also on the fall fair lineup. The Newsboys, who hail from Australia, have 16 albums to their credit, six of which went gold.
They have also released a book and recently did a video in conjunction with the show Veggie Tales.
They will appear at the fair Friday, Aug. 29. Tickets are on sale now.
Emblem 3
Emblem3, a trio of lifelong friends from Sequim, Wash., first appeared on the music competition show The X Factor, then scored a Top 10 hit with the album "Nothing To Lose.GÇ¥ The band also won the Choice Music Breakout Group Award at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards.
Emblem3 will appear Monday, Aug. 25.
